Amish-Owned Northern Indiana Axle Has Utilized Multiple MIDACO Pallet Changers for Over 17 Years
MIDACO visited with Northern Indiana Axle back in 2018 (original date of this blog post) and they graciously shared their experience in choosing Automatic Pallet Changers as a solution to expand their production. Now we are happy to see Ken Mullet, one of our long-time customers and friends, sharing the story of his company's success in the March 2022 issue of Modern Machine Shop Magazine.
When one of Ken’s vendors at the show recommended that we visit his shop for a potential article, the offer was hard to resist. Having spent time in close proximity to an Amish community, I thought I had an understanding of the Ordnung, or the set of rules established by each Amish community’s church. What I had never witnessed, however, was an Amish-owned business running dozens of high-tech CNC machine tools and pallet changers — all powered by 1,200 rpm natural gas generators. - Article Excerpt by Brent Donaldson, Sr. Editor, Modern Machine Shop. Owner, Ken Mullet started his business over 30 years ago in his rural farming community of Nappanee, IN. Their staple business is machining horse drawn carriage parts, ball hitches, stainless steel fencing, cable parts, hinge caps for aluminum trailers and general machining. In order to meet the demands of their surrounding community they purchased their first Automatic Pallet Changer in 2004 for their HAAS VF-4 Vertical Machining Center and doubled their production.
“We started up in the 80’s just as a regular job shop and over the years we increased production and we noticed we had to get something to help us increase the through-put with our jobs. So we did some research and found the MIDACO. It helped double our production greatly, I mean it’s tremendous. We have already purchased our second one here and we’re looking to buy a third one in the near future.” (Update: 3rd Midaco Automatic Pallet Changer purchased in 2021) - Marcus Mullet, son of NIA owner Ken Mullet.
With his business growing in his community and expanding into the second generation with his children, Ken decided to purchase a second Automatic Pallet Changer in 2011 and a third in 2021. Being an Automatic Pallet Changer user since 2004, with their first pallet changer still running strong after 17 years, the Mullet family has experienced the performance reliability and value that MIDACO has brought to their manufacturing business, providing growth in productivity.
